Mongolia - Into the Gobi

With no real plan in place as a young burgeoning photojournalist hopeful, I took a one-way flight to Mongolia in an attempt to find a story. After a few days on the ground during the Naadam festival (and shopping the massive 'State Department Store' and surrounding markets for gear), I was able to find my way to a non-profit, Ger to Ger. They set me up on home stays with a group of families in the Northern Gobi desert. I camped near their yurts, shared tea and food, enjoyed traditional craft and dance. It was an incredible and eye-opening experience, learning about their daily lives, family dynamics and life in the vast, semi-arid landscape.
